Peace....Ssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Honestly today has been one of THOSE days, so, so stressful to the point of tears a few times. By mid afternoon all i wanted to do was come home and draw, paint and cut up bits of paper ! So thats just what i did and here's the end result.

It's a little 6x6 canvas...kinda cute and has a christmas feel too, peace is what i want most and i think the Sshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh has appeared from todays stresses, lol.
It's too hard i've decided trying to please everyone in my life...really enjoyed the brief escape from it all....sigh xx

When i'm all wound up i tend to stick channel O (classical music channel on sky ) on full volume to chill me out...love this song :)

Hark the herald angels sing....

tra laa laa la la la la...oh yeah Christmas has arrived in Katy's house, tree is up, plans are set for christmas day...no rushing around for me this year and i cant wait !

So here is a little ATC i made for a P.I.F on Docrafts forum, almost certain my swap partner is not a blogger so it's safe to share. This little PaperArtsy angel is perfect size for an ATC, so sweet :) I layered the background with text and tissue paper, coated with gesso and various acrylics and inks, a Cosmo Cricket rub on and hand wrote around her 'Hark the herald angels sing...' finishing with a coat of Ranger Rock candy crackle glaze.

Next i'd like to thank Kate for the beautiful journal i recieved last week after winning her blog candy, it truely is stunning and a great source of inspiration for me.....shall share a pic when i can :)

Ok so at last here's the winner of the lurvely cut out sheet giveaway, thanks to the folks who entered and apologies for having to wait forever, lol............................................................................LAURA it's your's hun, shall pop it in the post tomorrow if you could email me your addy.

Next are some random pics....

thats right...am knitting a chunky scarf to keep me warm on the way to work....blimey it was FREEZING brass monkeys this morning !

Here are some purchases from last weeks trip to the Trafford Centre in Manchester...of all the delightful shops there where did my little crafty radar lead me to ?????? I LOVE John Lewis dept store, they have the most gorgeous goodies..heaps of ribbons, divine buttons and lots of pretty things :)

this little 3x3 mini note book was a bargain i think... £2 and will make a nice stocking filler, decorated of course.

was hugely excited to find Moleskin journals in there too...tis my first, the paper inside is beautiful and perfect to draw/paint on.

Well i just couldn't resist this case for my prismas...

a random pic from next years calendar...

Pretty, pretty Harvey Nicks window :)

And last but not least....this is a must see Chrimbo film,i honestly thought because i was so familiar with the story...i mean who isn't...that i wouldn't enjoy it as much but Jim Carrey is genius.... watched it in 3D...FABULOUS....although beware if you get motion sickness..the flying scenes in 3D feel like you're actually flying too !

Ooops forgot to say if ya like the weird and wonderful Stamptique stamps then have a looksie here.... Craft Emporium is tops !

Hey......

I'm still here :) My, where does the time go ?! It's well over a WHOLE month since i posted here...unforgivable :( the reality is i've had no time to create just for me since starting my new job, infact today is the first time in ages i've messed around with my paints or drawn anything...have missed it.

A few weeks ago i signed up for one of Suzi Blu's fab workshops...you can find them here, not only is her work some of my favourite out there but she has me in stitches too. I can highly recommend for anyone thinking about taking one of her classes to do it...her videos are exceptionally easy to follow.

So this is some prep i did for Rodeo girl tonight...i wanted to have a go at drawing her face myself....

Rather than have the sketch sat in my sketch book i decided to make use of it, plus i've never worked with paints mixed with glaze before...but it's fun and very forgiving...just swoosh it around :)

I shall be back real soon promise...oh and a winner for the give away too...have not forgotten :)

Master Snickups cloak

Dont you just love it when you rediscover a childhood treasure ?! I was looking through a box of books i have on top of the wardrobe the other day and came across this book 'Master Snickups Cloak' that i've had for 30 years ! Blimey that makes me feel old !

It was never really the story itself ( sorry Alexander Theroux ) but more the illustrations that captivated me, i would sit for an age just looking at all the weird and wonderful creatures, they are just amazing. I didn't make the connection for a long time but these are drawn by Brian Froud, the creator/conceptual designer of the fantasy creatures in The Dark Crystal and Labrynth !

I'm not hugely sentimental with books, fiction i tend to give away once i've read them unless i want to read again but this is one book i know i'll never part with....it's going back in the box xx

Yep that's right another blog makeover ! Will I ever be satisfied ? Well I do love this one :) x

About time too !!

At last ! I've been dying to get my hands messy for the past week and tonight i managed to sneak a couple of hours making the cover of this journal..hurray ! I did worry about the red looking a little macabre, i think the inspiration came from the result of todays hair colour change, yes i am now officially a redhead and i love it ! no pics to share of that though, i'm camera shy today, lol.

These lovely cut out sheets are from Altered Element by Artchix Studio...i just fell head over heels for them, arnt they fab ? Well i have this sheet to give away, if you'd like it just let me know in your comment and i shall use randon org to pick a winner at the weekend...it's a weeeeeee give away i know :)

Shall try my upmost to post again soon, thanks for popping by xxx

Sooooooooooooooooo :)

Here it is, my first attempt at an Art journal page AND painting with acrylics, now I'm not ever going to be your next Michaelangelo, lol dont think I've spelt that right, they make it look so easy on You Tube...tons of video tutorials later this is what I've just finished, least I think It's finished ? So as I'm trying to find my feet so to speak just getting the techniques down this page is inspired by a few artists...I love the way Kelly Rae draws her faces and I seem to be leaning towards that style :)

'Is it all just a dream' is really me saying 'Am I wasting my time here ?'
Who know's and maybe who care's...I'm having fun :)
